James Gleason is the lead instructor with the Proletarian Training Group and is a full time law enforcement officer with over 17 years of experience. James has served for ten years on the Special Response Team (commonly referred to as SWAT) and rose to the rank of Tactical Team Leader, the highest rank within such a group which still serves as a front line operator. James has received specialized training as an entry specialist. James has trained in advanced entry skills such as surreptitious (silent covert techniques) entry, ballistic (firearms) breaching, explosive entry, and numerous other advanced techniques. James has received numerous letters of commendation and in 2014 was recognized as Law Enforcement Officer of the year. James serves as an instructor across multiple disciplines and has taught thousands of civilians and law enforcement officers.
James has received training from prominent organizations such as Louisiana State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Homeland Security, United States Department of Justice, Louisiana Tactical Police Officers Association, and National Tactical Officers Association. James has received instruction in disciplines such as civilian reaction to active shooter, law enforcement response to active shooter, hostage rescue tactics, mass causality care, penetrating trauma and bleeding control, self defense and control devices, low light shooting techniques, vehicle cover tactics, use of video surveillance techniques and numerous other topics. James holds numerous instructor certifications and is recognized by the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Training Counsel as a law enforcement instructor.
James has worked with the school board and individual schools. He has been instrumental in the development of procedures in response to critical incidents / active shooter situations. James is the lead instructor for the school board’s crisis team and is responsible for training administrators, teachers and faculty in response to critical incidents. He has trained thousands of private citizens on how to survive an active shooter situation. James has played a key role in security consultations for numerous government buildings by analyzing security weakness and recommending security upgrades. Using his specialized acquired skills from time spent as a SWAT officer, James has conducted dozens of security evaluations via unannounced penetration test to find possible weaknesses in physical security systems as well as lapses in security procedure.
